Ludwick Eye Center is collecting gently used eyeglasses for Lions Clubs International and Respectacle, a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization.
Worldwide, according to the World Health Organization, more than 127 million people are estimated to be in need of glasses, including many Americans.
Whether due to lack of access or inability to pay for costs, too often those with severe vision problems that can be easily corrected with the proper prescription lenses are not getting the eyeglasses they so desperately need.
Through the Lions Recycle for Sight Program, donated glasses are collected by local Lions clubs and delivered to a regional Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center. There, Lion volunteers clean and sort the eyeglasses by prescription size then package and ship to humanitarian distribution teams. Most of the recycled glasses are distributed to people in need in developing countries where they will have the greatest impact....
