Chad N. Tiede, O.D.
Dr. Tiede earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 2005. Before graduating, he completed externships in Delaware, Pennsylvania, and DC where he treated retired and active duty soldiers and their families.
Upon completion of optometry training, Dr. Tiede served as Medical Service Officer for the United States Army for 4 years. During this time, he toured in Iraq where he was one of two eye care providers in all of northern Iraq. There he received numerous medals for his service.
Dr. Tiede’s initial experience in eye care began in high school. He was living in Baumholder, Germany at the time and was afforded the opportunity to work at the local hospital as a part of his high school training. After seeing the impact of the eye center on the soldiers and their families, he found his passion for helping others and decided to pursue a career in eye care.
In 2009, Dr. Tiede finished active service in the United States Army and began working in private practice in the York, PA, area as an optometrist. In 2012, he moved to Hagerstown, MD, with his wife and two daughters and joined Ludwick Eye Center.
When not in the office, Dr. Tiede enjoys his real full time job–being a dad. He helps coach his daughter’s T-ball team and likes taking the family for bike rides and hikes.
“My favorite part about working as an eye doctor is the one on one setting where I am able to personally get to know my patients and become a part of their lives, helping them navigate their best health, enhance their lifestyle, and restore their vision.”
