David J. Ludwick, M.D., F.A.C.S., F.A.C.E.S.
Dr. Ludwick graduated with his medical degree in 1985 from Temple University School of Medicine, Philadelphia, PA. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Abington Memorial Hospital, Abington, PA in 1988 and went on to complete his ophthalmology residency at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, MD.
Dr. Ludwick is Board Certified in both Ophthalmology and Internal Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Eye Surgery. He is presently Associate Clinical Professor at Penn State Hershey Medical Center where he is responsible for overseeing surgical procedures of ophthalmology residents. He received certification in Cataract/Implant Surgery by the American College of Eye Surgery (ACES), and is one of only four ophthalmologists in the state of Pennsylvania and one of two practicing ophthalmologists in Maryland to hold this designation. According to the ACES website, “Only those individuals demonstrating the highest quality of surgical skills and judgment obtain certification.”
Dr. Ludwick established Ludwick Eye Center in Chambersburg in August 1997, followed by the addition of a second office in Hagerstown in August 2002. The business continued to grow and added a Waynesboro office in November 2009. The Ludwick Laser and Surgery Center was opened in 2007 and over 10,000 procedures have been performed in the center. Dr. Ludwick has built Ludwick Eye Center on a core purpose belief that we can make the world a better place by improving the lives of others and strives to uphold this commitment every day.
Dr. Ludwick is enthusiastic about supporting the local community through volunteerism with local organizations. He also founded the i-CARE food collection program that benefits area food pantries with donations from patients and employees of Ludwick Eye Center and fellow eye care practices who also participate in this extremely successful outreach program. He has also participated in medical mission trips to Thailand with the World Surgical Foundation.
Dr. Ludwick lives at home with his wife and three children. He enjoys coaching soccer and spending time with his family.
