James E. Grove, O.D., F.A.A.O.
Dr. Grove received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1991. Before completing his residency in ocular disease at The Eye Institute in Philadelphia, he did an externship in Denver, Colorado providing eye care services to a low income population- many of whom were not able to afford eye care.
Prior to joining Ludwick Eye Center, Dr. Grove engaged in private practice for 14 years beginning in 1993. He is currently a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and a past Vice Chairman of the Pennsylvania State Board of Optometry.
Dr. Grove became interested in vision at a young age. He was highly nearsighted and had trouble seeing. In trying to understand his own visual limitations, he grew fascinated with the human body, and more so, the human eye. It was this interest that led him to work in eye care.
“I get up every morning and look forward to coming into work because I truly believe that God has called me into the health care industry and, more specifically, into Ludwick Eye Center so that I can share His love with my patients. I love my coworkers and the patients I work with, and it is a joy to interact with them every day.”
Dr. Grove and his wife have three children. When not working, Dr. Grove enjoys watching his favorite baseball team, the Pittsburgh Pirates. He also has a passion for running and likes competing in marathons and ultra-marathons.
