Our team of surgical counselors is comprised of compassionate and highly motivated individuals. One very important role our surgery counselors have is patient education. The counselors educate the patients about cataract surgery and the various options associated with planning the patients’ surgery. Additional components of the position are: gathering patient medical history, thoroughly understanding the patient’s medical history for lab work and medical clearance requirements, chart documentation, scheduling appointments, reviewing pre-operative instructions with the patients, and communicating with other medical facilities. We are in search of a caring, detail oriented team player, who loves to work with people and has a desire to learn in our fast-paced ophthalmic clinic. As we stay on the cutting edge of surgical and clinical innovation, we need a team player who values the importance of ongoing education so that we can provide every patient the best treatment and outcome possible.
Being a surgery counselor is a rewarding career that primarily works with the senior population. We have the opportunity to have a positive influence in many people on a daily basis, by helping our patients restore their sight, so they can live the life they desire!
A full time position consists of 40 hours a week, typical hours being 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. This position rotates between two of our offices, Chambersburg and Hagerstown. Flexibility with hours and location is a must.
