Dry Eye Relief: LipiFlow & BlephEx
Dr. Glen Elliott, one of our physicians, specializes in treating patients who are suffering from dry eye. Dr. Elliott has shared his passion for dry eye with other doctors by speaking at multiple National Conferences about dry eye and its treatment. In 2013, he traveled to Duke, a leading Dry Eye Center, to learn more about the newest treatments in dry eye. He chronicled his visit in a blog post.
Today, we’d like to focus on two treatments – LipiFlow and BlephEx – both used to treat dry eye using different tools and approaches, with the ultimate goal of dry eye relief.
Dr. Elliott is a proponent of LipiFlow, an in-office treatment that unblocks clogged meibomian glands, one of the main causes of dry eye. With gentle pressure and soothing heat, blockages are loosened and gland function is restored. See for yourself!
Blepharitis may be an unusual word, but it’s a very common condition affecting over 82 million people nationwide. Caused by an overgrowth of bacteria along the eyelid and base of the eyelashes, blepharitis causes inflammation, irritation, dry eye, and other uncomfortable symptoms.
With the motto “Healthy Lids for Life,” BlephEx is a treatment frequently used in our practice. Quick and painless, BlephEx cleans and exfoliates the bacteria built up along the lid margin. Click here to take a look at Before & After photos to see the difference BlephEx can make.
