Treating Cataracts and Glaucoma…
iStent procedure now available!
With over 3 million surgeries performed each year, cataract surgery is the most common surgery in the world. 20% of those patients are also on treatment with glaucoma medications. Traditionally, patients suffering from both cataracts and glaucoma were forced to treat each condition separately. Ludwick Eye Center is excited to announce the arrival of the iStent Trabecular Micro-Bypass procedure for patients with both glaucoma and cataracts. Now, with a Micro-Invasive Glaucoma Surgery, or MIGS procedure, cataract surgery patients can lower their eye pressure by an estimated 30%. This offers the advantage of better control of glaucoma and possibly even reducing the need for costly glaucoma medication.
The combined procedure typically takes about 20 minutes. It is performed outpatient under local anesthesia and is not painful. If you are suffering from cataracts and have been diagnosed with glaucoma, schedule an exam with us today at one of our 3 convenient offices.
