Laser Surgery: Treatment for Cataracts
The American Academy of Ophthalmology reports that “cataracts affect more than 24.4 million Americans age 40 and older.” A natural part of the aging process, cataracts are a clouding of the lens, which causes your vision to become gradually blurry. In the beginning, a new glasses prescription and brighter lighting can help your eyes adjust to these visual changes. Eventually, though, cataract removal will be needed to regain your vision.
At Ludwick Eye Center, we offer the option of Refractive Laser Assisted Cataract Surgery (ReLACS), also known as laser cataract surgery or bladeless cataract surgery. This is an advanced method of cataract surgery that uses laser precision throughout the steps of surgery that were traditionally performed by hand. Coupling ReLACS with VERION technology (a 3D image guided system), our patients receive an unprecedented level of precision throughout cataract surgery with better visual outcomes, quicker recovery time, and reduced risk of complications!
