Baggy, Sagging Eyelids
The effects of aging, sun exposure, heredity, and the pull of gravity all affect the face. Excess fat that shows in the eyelids, medically referred to as dermatochalasis, can cause droopy upper eyelids and bags under your eyes. These changes make you look tired or older than you are while also impairing your vision.
Treatment for dermatochalasis is a surgical procedure called a blepharoplasty, which will remove the excess skin and puffiness around the eyelids- restoring your vision and improving your appearance.
The procedure can be performed on the upper or lower eyelids, or both. Blepharoplasty is usually done on an outpatient basis and patients are able to go home directly following their procedure. Following the procedure, minor swelling and bruising is normal, but most of the visible signs of surgery should fade completely within about 2-3 weeks.
Health insurance generally covers medically necessary procedures. Our staff will discuss insurance eligibility during your consultation.
