Skin cancer can occur anywhere on the skin, including your eyelids. Sun exposure, heredity, and fair complexion are all contributing factors for skin cancer. Skin cancers usually appear as painless bumps or nodules, but bleeding, crusting, distortion, and ulcerations of the skin may also occur. Any suspicious areas need to be evaluated and may require biopsy to confirm the presence of skin cancer.
If cancer is detected, complete removal of the cancer will decrease the chance of spreading or reoccurrence. Treatment will vary based on the type and location of the cancer. Depending on the location of the cancer, Dr. Kropinak may work in conjunction with a MOHS surgeon who is specially trained to perform microscopic surgery, entirely removing the cancer with the smallest possible excision.
Early diagnosis of skin cancer is key!
